AKA tea started in Victoria, BC with an exciting mission to deliver quality, spray and chemical free Matcha to food lovers in Canada. Why? Because Akari (the founder) knows what amazing Matcha her parents grow and how much her parents would love people to try it and experiment with it.
Growing up on a farm in a small village in Japan, Akari remembers how her parents put enormous care into growing food organically for the family. Many years later, they continue to do so because of their love for farming and their dedication to providing safe, top quality food for the people around them. Those principles lie at the heart of AKA Tea.
Traditionally, Matcha is served as a drink. However, because of its unique properties (Matcha tea leaves are grown and processed in a particular way and then micro-milled into a fine powder), it is very versatile, and can be used for cooking or baking, in ice-cream or smoothies, and more! When you incorporate Matcha in your drink or food, you are actually consuming entire tea leaves; as such, we want to ensure that the Matcha that you enjoy is clean and healthy, both for you and the environment.
We provide small-batch, farmer-direct, spray & chemical free Matcha, connecting small scale eco-conscious farmers in Japan with those who share their love of premium quality, healthy food.
